Almeria
Almeria is the capital of the province of the same name, in Andalusia, Spain. Founded by Abd ar-Rahman III of Cordoba, in 955, it has grown into an agricultural centre, with a current population of almost 200,000.
Cuneo
Cuneo is a city in Piedmont, northern Italy, at an elevation of 534 m, with a population of almost 60,000. Cuneo was founded in 1198, when the local population declared independence from the Marquisate of Montferrat.
Athens
Athens, the capital of Greece, is one of the oldest cities in the world, with a rich history going back 3400 years. Athens proper has a population of almost 750,000, with Greater Athens expanding to almost 4 million.
Belgorod
Belgorod, located in western Russia, just north of the Ukrainian border, is the administrative centre of Belgorod Oblast. The town, which first appears in written records in 1237, has a current population of almost 350,000.
